Bill to be Introduced Would Allow Stock Epinephrine in Ohio Schools

I received an email yesterday from FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) regarding a newfantasticallyfreeepipen bill that would allow Ohio schools to stock epinephrine.  This is very important legislation that will undoubtedly save lives, if passed.

If you live in Ohio, please read the email below, help spread the message and take action!

Dear FARE Supporters in Ohio:

In the next few weeks, a bill will be introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives that will allow schools to stock undesignated epinephrine for anyone who needs it. Sponsored by Rep. Terry Johnson D.O. (90-McDermott), the bill would allow (but not require) a school or district to stock non-patient specific doses of epinephrine and allow properly trained personnel in addition to school nurses to administer the epinephrine to a student, staff or visitor who exhibits signs of anaphylaxis. Because it has not yet been introduced, there is no bill number at this time.

Some 30 states already have laws like this, and we know that children’s lives have already been saved by undesignated epinephrine in schools. We want Ohio to be next!

Please call your own state representative and ask that they consider being a co-sponsor of the bill. If you visit the FARE Action Center you can register in the Advocates Network and click on the Ohio Alert to send a message directly to your state representative. Please do this at your earliest convenience to enhance the chances of many co-sponsors of this important bill.
Please share this email with other food allergy families across Ohio. Also, please let us know if you have any questions or if you were able to successfully complete the call to your state rep. You may contact me at

It only takes about 1 minute to sign into the FARE Action Center and send a message to your representative and could help save lives.
